The name of the recently released handset from Motorola is Motorola Flipout. The unit comes with a 2.8 inch TFT touch screen that operates within the confines of a 320 x 240 pixel screen size. Within this screen size the display screen is able to display up to 256,000 colours offering excellent colour variation and depth of image. The unit includes an accelerometer sensor for image orientation whilst utilising the MotoBlur user interface, which within this handset is version 1.5 and comes with the added benefit of live widgets. The aforementioned QWERTY keyboard is an effective and stylish addition which simply slides or flips out from behind the display screen.


The unit comes with 150 MB of internal memory storage whilst also providing a 2 GB card as standard. For additional memory expansion the microSD card slot can be utilised, offering the means to expand memory up to 32 GB. The unit provides an effective phone book and call records facility as well as providing photo call functionality.


Class 12 versions of GPRS and EDGE are supplemented by the inclusion of both micro-USB and Bluetooth connections. Internet access is provided by the inclusion of Wi Fi and HSDPA connectivity, offering web access at speeds of up to 7.2 Mbps.

The unit comes with a stereo FM radio which has RDS capability, a variety of games as well as an MP4/MP3 media player. One of the key facets of this particular handset is its social networking integration, which comes with live updates and offers access whilst on the move. The unit provides a 3.15 mega pixel camera that operates at 2048 x 1536 pixels and also offers the option of video capture, which operates at 352 x 280 pixels and at 24 frames per second.
